I am an entrepreneur for last 32 years and is a Graduate in Hotel & Management. Amongst many other businesses, I started Ratan Agros which was incorporated in 2009. I have done extensive research on development by incorporating technology into the poultry industry. I have recently been to USA to study Manure Management at the University of Delware and have imported the machinery to recycle manure. My vision is to have total vertical integration of the poultry industry, Broiler Farm - Abattoir - Feed Mill - Breeder Farms - Hatchery – Layer Farms and ultimately to the end-user. My businesses in Botswana are that of construction and imports.

Ratan Agros involved in the primary agriculture sector and are involved in broiler production.
The farm had a capacity of 50000 broilers but grew to a capacity of 307000 broilers. The current infrastructure consists of 2 curtain side houses and 6 environment controlled houses. Ratan Agros has an approved EIA for 27 more broiler houses. The first phase would be to erect 7 houses which would increase the farms capacity to around 600’000 broilers. Ultimately, the expansion is aimed to be in line with the required capacity for the next project which is building of our own Abattoir.
The company Ratans Pride will be operating the first independently black owned abattoir in the Northwest area. We are moving from primary to secondary agriculture in the processing sector. The key focus is food security and job creation in the Northwest province of 350 employees per shift, 700 employees per day on a double shift. Having secured the suitably zoned 38 hectare land and the necessary EIA’s, the abattoir will be the state of the art slaughter house in the province. Offtakes are in place. Apart from job creation, we will be empowering the local black farmers in the eco system by offering contracts and mentorship to uplift their skills to enhance their small scale poultry businesses. Directly and indirectly, this empowerment will create approx. 300 more jobs.
Blue Label Brands will be involved in the further processing sector. We will be concentrating purely on private labels for retail mainly in the local townships. Employment creation for 100-150 employees. The popular chicken products that will be manufactured are Chicken Nuggets, Burgers, Pops and Schnitzels and the “KFC” range of Crumbed and Breaded Chicken, amongst other products.
Ultimately, we are looking to put up breeder farms, layer farms a feedmill and as hatchery as part of a vertical integration project. As well as a small fertilizer plant using chicken manure.
