Personal Profile
My name is Panji Winston Chirwa. I am married to Shyreen Yona and together we have two kids: Jemimah and Jason aged 3 and 1 respectively.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Law (honours) from the University of Malawi; a Bachelor's degree in Education from the university of Malawi, and I have just submitted my Thesis to the Department of Law, Economics and Governance at the University of Malawi as partial fulfilment for the award of Master of Laws in Commercial Law. I have also been selected to pursue mu studies in Master of Laws in International Trade and Investment Law in Africa at the University of Pretoria for the 2023 academic year.
I currently work as a Deputy High Commissioner for Malawi at the Malawi High Commission in Pretoria. Before joining diplomatic work, I was a Legal Practitioner at Messrs Ben & Winston Attorneys in Lilongwe, Malawi. I have also worked as Lands Officer with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Malawi; as well as a secondary school Teacher of Geography and social and development studies with Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Malawi. I have also done internships with the Malawi Human Rights Commission, Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation, Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation in Malawi, and Wilkinson and Associates (Lawyers).
My intention is to gain vast experience in the diplomatic work, and use the knowledge to advance greater opportunities in trade and investment as well as conflict resolution, with a focus on human rights.
