Mesh has over 18 years’ experience in Investment Banking and Advisory where he has led and executed some of the leading Equity Capital Market transactions across the African continent (including Mozambique, Zambia and Rwanda) and Europe (including the United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, Poland and Cyprus). Before starting YW Capital in 2015, Mesh successfully ran the equity capital market franchise in Africa for Standard Bank. Prior to that, Mesh was employed at Renaissance Capital where he was based in London, whereas prior to this, he worked for Deutsche Bank based in London and South Africa. During his 17 years’ experience Mesh has worked with several European, Indian and African corporations allowing for an unparalleled reach across the continent and access to various types of investors. During this time, he has raised over R247 billion in equity and debt. Much of his career was based on building ECM franchises for banks. This precipitated his move to RenCap and then again to Standard Bank. Mesh and his team lead Standard Bank’s ECM franchise from a loss-making business in 2011 to number two on SSA DealMakers league tables for 2012. During 2012 he executed 13 ECM transactions by the first half of 2012. Mesh is the chairman of the Assore Empowerment Trust, which is regarded as one of the most successful empowerment schemes in South Africa as well as YW Foundation. Mesh holds a Masters in Law from Duke University and studied at Columbia University, Imperial College (London) and the University of Cape Town.
