Roger Latchman has been appointed by the Government of Georgia as the Honorary Consul General for Johannesburg. He is a Chartered Director (CD SA) and is an internationally Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional. He completed the Global Executive Development Programme at GIBS. He holds a Master of Laws degree in International Commercial Law from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. Roger serves as the Vice-Chairman of the World Innovation Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA), an organisation formed to promote the interests of the global ICT industry. He was first appointed in 2009, serving in several offices, and was re-elected in 2022. He is an active member of the Bretton Woods Committee, a committee that champions global efforts to spur economic growth, alleviate poverty and improve financial stability and which monitors the activities of the World Bank, the IMF and other similar insitutions. He serves on the board of the French-South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry and on the South African-Saudi Arabia Business Council. Some notable programmes he has attended include the Accelerated Director Programme, the Chairman’s Programme and the Social & Ethics Committee course. He completed a programme in International Trade & Facilitation in 2013 at the invitation of the Swedish government. He attended the Summer Campus of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (Austria). He has spoken at several local and international conferences including the European Economic Congress Katowice (2019), Economic Forum Krynica (2018), the World Tamils Economic Conference (Durban 2017, and Pondicherry 2018), and has been awarded by several organisations across the world. In 2018, in Pondicherry, India, he earned the “Ulaga Thamizhar Maamani” (Crown Jewel of World Tamils) by the World Tamils Economic Foundation and was awarded by the World Tamils Economic Foundation and Madras Development Society conferred jointly by the Prime Minister of Guyana, President of Mauritius and the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, India. He is a member of the Institute of Directors of South Africa and of India, the South Africa-Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Progressive Business Forum, and Deputy-Chairman of the Information Technology Association of South Africa.
