As the Information and Data Management Director I am in charge of collection processing and making available of all the information for the organisation across the country. Zambia Micro and Small Traders Foundation Cooperative Society Limited (ZAMAST) is a Member of National Development Coordinating Committee (NDCC) comprising of Permanent Secretaries to undertake activities under the road map of the Seventh National Development Plan in line with the UN SDGs. ZAMAST interacts with Government Line Ministries, statutory bodies such as the CEEC, and other Private sectors. ZAMAST covers all the ten (10) provinces of Zambia to promote self help, self responsibility democracy, equality to accelerate social and economical objectives in achieving United Nations(UN) Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) in line with the Seventh National Development Plan(7NDP) aiming at attaining the long term objective as outlined in the vision 2030 of“ becoming a prosperous middle income country by 2030”. The purpose of ZAMAST is to work in line with the Zambian government’s strategy on industrialization and job creation which seeks to facilitate the creation of sustainable jobs and formalizing SMEs into modern industries through Industrial Yards. Its national headquarters is based in Kabwe, Central Province of the Republic of Zambia. ZAMAST has a presence based on a Baseline survey in all the 120 districts of the country with a total membership of over One Million Eight Hundred and Eight Thousand(1.8 Million)country wide categorized as follows;

Work with the Government to contribute to the actualization of the 7th National Development Plan to accelerate development efforts towards the implementation of the Vision 2030 (SDGs) on Economic Diversification and job creation by formalizing the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to the formal sector. Specific objectives include the following; ? Mobilization – Mobilization of the Informal sector with out leaving anyone behind in line with the 7th NDP as underlined in the SDGs vision 2030. ? Sensitization – to carry out sensitizations of programs for Cooperating partners, Keyline Government ministries and the Private sector amongst the SMEs and its members in line with the SDGs and the 7thNDP. ? Capacity Building – to ensure that SMEs are equipped with business and technical skills needed to effectively manage and grow their business ventures in order to create a sustainable value chain for their goods and services. ? Business Linkages–Create technological and business linkages for SMEs to Government institutions, Cooperating partners, Keyline Government ministries and the Private sector that can provide capacity building and financial support. ? Formalization of SMEs–Transformation of the Informal sector involved in various forms of manufacturing and trading that can enhance value addition of products and services in the country. ? Data capture–conduct a national feasibility studies on SMEs and create a comprehensive data base as a basis for design of an empowerment program.
