Personal Profile
Chitundu Kasase is an accomplished food technologist/scientist and international development expert with over 19 years of experience in strategic management & Leadership, academia, research, and private sector development. Dr. Kasase is currently the Chief Executive Officer/Director of the National Technology Business Center (NTBC). The NTBC is a government agency (Statutory Body) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation with core responsibility of harnessing technology and innovations and transforming them into viable business products and services in Zambia. Prior to joining NTBC, Dr Kasase was the Country Representative and Team Leader for a five million USD five year multi donor AgResults Zambia Biofortified Maize Project that was Implemented by Agribusiness Systems International (ASI). Previously, Dr Kasase worked as a Program Manager for TechnoServe/Zambia under the USAID funded Solutions for African Food Enterprises (SAFE), to build the capacity of local food processors at SME scale through a technology transfer framework. Prior to joining TechnoServe, Dr Kasase was a Lecturer/ Researcher/Consultant and Head of Department of the department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Zambia. Dr. Kasase has consulted and developed networks/partnerships with several organisations that include Government Ministries, UN Agencies, International Development Organisations, local & International non-governmental organization, Local and International research & academic institutions and the private sector. As a researcher, Dr. Kasase has published more than 10 peer reviewed and commissioned research reports and made presentations at local and international scientific forums. He has chaired and facilitated conference and workshop proceeding, and developing related policy briefs and reports. Dr. Kasase holds a Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Surrey, UK and Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Ghent, Belgium. Dr Kasase is a founding member of the Zambia Institute of Food Science and Technology (ZIFST), member of the Institute of Board Directors (IoD) Zambia, Southern Africa Association of Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST) and the Agriculture Institute of Zambia (AIZ). He also sits on the Board for two State Owned Enterprises (SOE) under the International Development Corporation (IDC) of Zambia.

NTBC became operational from 1st April 2002. NTBC was established with the main objective of linking developed and proven technologies from various local and international sources with the local technology seekers i.e. business community and entrepreneurs, for creation of wealth and employment.
