David Kombe is the Chairman of Mulundu Holdings a family enterprise comprising of several firms with diverse interests in different sectors.
Top of the list of Mulundu Holdings companies is Blackdot Media, formerly D& C Saatchi & Saatchi, a local and international award winning advertising and media agency with international affiliation to the Publicis Group of France, which he set up 27 years ago. As Blackdot, the firm now represents three renowned agencies namely, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett and Publicis Africa Group.
In addition to Blackdot Media, Mulundu Holdings has birthed 3 new media firms namely, Stimuli PR- Offering top notch Public Relations and Media consultancy; Intrepid Media, a Research and Media Planning & Buying and lastly Brandwise Limited offering quality supply and branding of assorted promotional and collateral material.
Furthermore, David is Chairman of the first and fast-growing Zambian-owned reinsurance company, Prima Reinsurance Plc which he initially founded with five other investors in 2006. The success of this company has seen it listed on the Lusaka Stock Exchange with a capital of K30million.
A recent addition to the Holdings is the successful acquisition of African Grey Insurance Limited of which Mulundu is the majority shareholder at 65% shareholding.
As part of the group diversification Mulundu Holdings has branched into manufacturing through its 100% owned company Outnet Marketing Limited which was established in 1999 with the sole purpose of providing distribution services. The company has now diversified into the manufacturing of toilet paper, kitchen towels, serviettes and Diapers under the brand Essence. The Essence brand is distributed countrywide and is steadily growing.
Notable points in David’s career is an appointment by His Excellency the President Mr. Edgar C. Lungu as a Director on the Board of Directors of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). In addition to this David was previously appointed by Late President Levy Mwanawasa, to serve as Senior Private Secretary at State House, a position he held for two years, before being promoted to Chief Analyst to the President for Press and Public Relations, a position he held for 5 years.
