Dr. Sharma, a NRI, presently founder / chairman of JOA is an Environmental Specialist (CES), an Analytical Chemist (Ph.D.) and a Gemologist (UK). He worked for over 55 years in India (ONGC), governments of Tanzania and Zambia prior to starting his own business (1992) which is engaged in the mining of minerals and manufacturing of gems & jewellery.
Has a post doctoral degree in Renewable Energy as well.

Jewel of Africa was established over twenty
years ago by Dr. K.B. Sharma and has since
acquired an excellent reputation as exclusive
jewellers. As a family business, we place
great emphasis on teamwork. Our jewellers
and their formidable skills are as precious
to us as the exquisite gemstones they transform.
The company runs six jewellery stores across
Zambia with a flagship showroom at the Intercontinental
Hotel in Lusaka where we
display the very best of Zambian gemstones.
We have maintained a strong bond and reputation
with all our local and international
clients all around the world, as we have been
able to export jewellery to far areas such as
the US, Europe, China, Australia just to mention
a few.
